🎮 How to Play Battle Tank

🚀 Quick Start

Battle Tank is a classic arcade-style tank game where your mission is simple but challenging: destroy all enemy tanks while protecting your eagle base at the bottom of the screen.

1. Move your tank using arrow keys or WASD
2. Fire your weapon with SPACE or J key
3. Destroy all 20 enemy tanks in each stage
4. Protect your eagle — if it's destroyed, you lose!
5. Collect power-ups from flashing enemy tanks for bonuses

🎮 Controls

Battle Tank supports both keyboard controls for desktop players and touch controls for mobile devices.

Movement Tips

Your tank moves in four directions and turns instantly. When you change direction perpendicular to your current movement (e.g., from moving up to moving right), your tank automatically aligns to the grid — this helps you slip into tight corridors without pixel-perfect positioning.

⭐ Power-ups

Power-ups appear when you destroy flashing enemy tanks (the 4th, 11th, and 18th enemies in each stage). Collect them quickly — they disappear after 20 seconds!

Star Upgrade Levels

The Star power-up is especially valuable — each one permanently upgrades your tank (until you die):

• Level 1: Faster bullets (180 px/s instead of 120)
• Level 2: Fire 2 bullets simultaneously
• Level 3: Bullets can destroy steel walls!

👾 Enemy Tanks

You'll face four different enemy tank types, each with unique characteristics. Later stages feature more dangerous tank compositions.

Enemy Behavior

Enemies spawn from three points at the top of the screen and generally move toward your eagle or your position. They fire randomly and don't coordinate attacks — but their numbers can overwhelm you!

🗺️ Terrain Types

Each stage features different terrain layouts. Understanding how terrain works is key to survival.

• 🧱 Brick — Destructible by any bullet. Use for cover and carve paths.
• 🔲 Steel — Indestructible (unless you have 3 stars). Blocks all movement.
• 🌊 Water — Tanks can't cross, but bullets fly over. Natural barriers.
• 🌲 Trees — Tanks and bullets pass through. Provides visual cover only.
• 🧊 Ice — Tanks slide when stopping. Harder to control!

🦅 Protecting Your Eagle

The eagle is your base, located at the bottom center of every stage. If any enemy bullet or tank touches it, the game is over immediately — even if you have lives remaining!

Eagle Defense Tips

• The eagle is surrounded by brick walls at the start — don't destroy them carelessly!
• Use the Shovel power-up to temporarily fortify the eagle with steel walls
• Position yourself between spawn points and the eagle when possible
• Watch for enemies that slip past you toward the base
• Fast tanks are the biggest eagle threat — eliminate them quickly

Points Breakdown

• Basic Tank: 100 points
• Fast Tank: 200 points
• Power Tank: 300 points
• Armor Tank: 400 points
• Any Power-up: 500 bonus points

After each stage, you'll see a tally of all enemies destroyed and points earned. Try to destroy every enemy for maximum score!
